I came to Vienna for an exchange with the intention of involving people in my work that might not yet have gotten in touch with art in their lives. There I met Abigail and Natalia and the three of us decided to work together to create an artwork about our neighbours. Always travelling with a sketchbook, I had the idea of using it as a tool to approach people by inviting them to fill in a sketchbook about their life in Vienna. The aim was to use drawing as a simple way to collect the people’s impressions without worrying about the outcome. We eventually chose to unveil the wonderful life stories we collected by filming ourselves flipping through the sketchbooks. We then made the work fit into a video cosy installation (with handmade cushions) for the viewers to be able to get a glimpse of this collective experience.
